Continuing a winning habit begun almost since getting the boat, David Ellis showed once again he is the quickest Shaw 650 in Australia, with a resounding win at Geelong's Festival of Sails 2015.
Finishing with 13 points over 8 races including 3 wins, the newly named Shaw 650 Dripping Wet (formerly Moneyshot) came in 3rd just a point behind the 2nd placed Viper Qld owned by former Shaw 650 racer the Leigh Hyphen Smiths.

Bringing in the new year with a nice little trophy haul, David Ellis managed another great performance, winning Div 1 (the light sportsboats division) and 2nd overall in the ASBA 2015 Nationals, held in Sydney Harbour over the new year period.
With racing held over 10 races and 4 days, initially it was Octopussy and Rees Howell who were muscling in on the top spot, but an unfortunate gear breakage on day 3 (snapped rudder pin) saw them DNF in the last race, followed by a final day not worth remembering, when they dropped more points than we've ever seen before - not sure what happened but no doubt Rees and his crew will be back on full steam next regatta! Octopussy did manage to pick up 3rd place in Div 1 as well, though, so probably that's better than a kick in the teeth. With Shaws 1st and 3rd in the lightweights....well I guess if you want to be up the front end of the fleet, this is the type of boat you want to consider innit!
Mr Consistency, David Ellis, managed to string together a bunch of good results, always in the front half of the fleet, and that was enough for another addition to the trophy cabinet. Andrew Waugh (woh woh woh what is he good for) managed a very slick 1st overall and 1st for Div 2 (the heavier sportsboats) in his Thompson 8 Zippier for Sale, which is, yes you guessed it, for sale.
Congratulations to all the racers, and for full results check out the excellent ASBA site and their results page here:
