Shaw 650 Manic Winning and Winning

17 / 10 / 2013

Once again, Alex Watson on the Manic (Shaw 650, Newport) has won the Sail for Hope race in Newport.

This year's regatta marks the 12th running of Sail for Hope. In 2001, in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and in the skies over Pennsylvania, a few local sailing enthusiasts scrambled to organize a regatta to honor and support those affected.

Racing in PHRF 3 spinnaker, Alex finished the course in 2 hours 31 min; which was the daily double on win on line, and a win on corrected by almost 5min from the 2nd placed Mos Eisley Cantina (VX1), and almost 15 min ahead on corrected from 3rd place Samba (Quest 30). In overall spinnaker results, MANIC was also FIRST, beating into submission a variety of leadmines and lead assisted dinghies. Congratulations to the Manic team, this marks another awesome result for the Shaw 650 in Newport, and proof of just how fast these boats are. Full results here:
