On their way to getting a nicely deserved 2nd at the St Helena Cup 2012 held recently, David Mann and his crew on Situation Normal set a new class record (verified) with a top sustained speed of 25.7 knots.

The average of 18.5 knots isn't so bad either. Some boats only reach that sort of speed when they are being towed along the highway!

Taking out the win against Peow Peow and Whaka, the SNAFU team were quick to point out that sailing in a 100 boat fleet, a clear lane off the start and some luck in the shifty 2nd day were pretty important in getting a result.

Seems like good sailors (i.e. not me) seem to get lucky quite often! Well done to Situation Normal after top speed (SNATS) and seems like the new Hood Sails SN is rocking are also helping ;_)

Over on the other coast, the season kicked off with Octopussy getting a win over 2nd placed Indecent Haste, with Shaw Thing coming in 3rd of the 3 Shaws, but they are winners in our books, with a nice video to boot!
