Happy Christmas and best wishes to all Shaw sailors around the world.
It's been a great year, with several new boats reaching clients, and below are a few pictures of the latest 650 delivered to well known Melbourne IRC racer David Ellis, who will be sharing his time between his winning Penfold Audi Sports A31 and his new smaller ride, a Shaw 650 (graphics and exact name are still under wraps, ok another awful pun). Whether Scarlett, a key member of the A31 team will be performing tactician duties for the new Shaw will need to be decided after the new year!
On the other coast, Nat and SKID on Shaw Thing have given Rees Howell and the mighty Octopussy a good run for their money, finally squeezing themselves into 3rd in the Western Australia short course championship (with Octopussy in 4th); with Peter Chalmer continuing to stay right up the front end at Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on the Swan River. Sam Edmunds with Lickety Split has continued to perform very strongly in Tasmania, and the central East Coast Australian Shaw 650 boats including Barely Legal, Peow Peow, Situation Normal, Monkey Business, Whaka and Tickety Boo are increasingly raising the profile of one of Australia's largest new sportsboat classes as they show what these boats are capable of on the water. The ASBA rule has continued to develop and now seems to be the dominant Sportsboat rule not just in Australia, but wider afield - in Thailand the Shaw 650s completed a 1-2 in the 6 boat TOG fleet, and will get a one design start in 2013 with 5 Shaws already registered to race.
We have more boats headed to Australia in time for the ASBA Nationals 2013, and 2013 also marks our first year of production boats racing in USA. It's all on!
In the meantime, have a safe and fun XMAS and New Year.
