For the last 20 years, sailing has gone from being a sport for everyone, to increasingly being a sport for the rich. The boats are expensive, the gear is expensive, the sails are expensive. Older boats are no longer competitive, thanks to large advances in technology. That's at least part of the reason why fewer people are staying with the sport.

Not everyone wants to sail a 4KSB and watch the rich guys on the horizon, charter some tub for cruising, or jump into some boat that costs a fortune to campaign, or deal with odd rule bending hiking restrictions. Some people just want a boat that will be cheap, fast and fun.

The Shaw 650 created by Designer Rob Shaw is a lightweight design that is easily driven, with lower sheet loads, easier planing and easier transportation. For a sailor on a budget, we've got the answer to keeping up with the fleet (or leaving the fleet behind).

We are delighted to announce that Shaw 650s will now be manufactured in New Zealand, drawing on a rich heritage of craftsmen, experts and sailors who have spent the last 30 years producing fast, light boats. We make no compromise in quality or performance and each boat produced has been personally inspected by the Shaw 650 team ensuring your complete satisfaction as it gets unpacked at the other end. 10 boats already built both in home builds and in glass to date means all aspects of construction, ergonomics and performance have been tested and improved starting since the original Shaws Pornstar and Manic.

We are the only class that actively support home builds, with plans available and OD rules developed to encourage home builds to race against glass boats.
